UC Reciprocity

UCSF students may be seen at the student health service of any other UC campus: UC Berkeley, UC Davis, UC Irvine, UC Los Angeles, UC Merced, UC Riverside, UC San Diego, UC Santa Barbara and UC Santa Cruz. The following statement applies to care at all UC student health services:

Statement of Reciprocal Services
University of California Student Health Centers

If registered for a current term on any University campus, students have access to basic outpatient health care services of any other University campus, under conditions that apply to students registered on that campus.

Counseling and Psychological Services are provided as appropriate, guided by the student’s mental health care needs, the student’s duration of time away from their home campus, and resources available on the host campus. Care may be limited to a single assessment for acute symptoms, transitional services and/or referral to off-campus care.

What to do if you are a non-UCSF student visiting from another campus

Effective June 1, 2024, UCSF Health Primary Care is the designated provider for UCSF UC SHIP enrolled students. Students from another campus who need to seek care at UCSF will need to obtain a referral from their home campus to access care at UCSF Health. Students from another campus seeking mental health care may contact Student Mental Health and Wellbeing Services for support without a referral. Please call for an appointment at (415) 476-1281.

UC students from campuses other than UCSF should bring your current UC ID card and insurance card to your appointment.

Fees

Reciprocity students enrolled in the student health insurance plan of their home campus may receive counseling services at the same fees as students who have waived enrollment in their own campus' sponsored health plan on the host campus.  This applies regardless of whether the visiting student's health plan is UC SHIP or another campus-sponsored plan.
