All registered UCSF students have access to services provided by Student Mental Health and Wellbeing (except those who are defined as 'Student Employees' by the Registrar's Office).

Campus Medical Care Assistance Fund (CMCAF)

The UC SHIP Reserve Fund Investment Committee (RFIC) granted funds to the 10 UC SHIP system-wide member campuses for distribution to students with a financial hardship, to assist the student in paying their out-of-pocket medical expenses that exceed $500 up to the in-network individual out-of-pocket maximum.

UC SHIP

On the UC SHIP website, you can find details and important information about your plan as well as contact information and network providers.

Policy Numbers and Network Providers

Member ID cards for Anthem Blue Cross are available to you via a new mobile app. The app provides you with your Anthem member ID card, a summary of benefits, and other useful health information to best navigate your healthcare needs. To access the mobile app you will need your "UC Student ID" and date of birth. Logon to UC SHIP Mobile Health to access your information. You may also request a hard copy of your ID card by contacting Anthem Blue Cross at 1-800-888-2108.

Medical Plans

All medically necessary specialty care, hospital stays, physical therapy, prescriptions, lab tests, radiology services, and more, are covered by the Student Insurance Plan.

Mental Health Coverage

Enrollees are eligible to receive short-term counseling at Student Health and Counseling Services each academic year at no charge. For long-term mental health needs, enrollees can utilize the UC SHIP.

Dental Plan

The dental plan provides basic and preventative dental coverage and is underwritten by Delta Dental of California.

Vision Plan

Enrollees are automatically enrolled in the Anthem Blue Vision and can be covered for up to $120 each for exams, lenses, frames and contacts.

Prescription Plan

Enrollees have access to the Anthem's pharmacy network and can purchase prescription medications for a $5 co-pay (generic) or $25 co-pay (brand).

Medical Billing Process

Track your bills by following the medical billing process. To get a list of all network providers, billing addresses and phone numbers, see Policy Numbers & Network ID. If you have recently visited an emergency room or an urgent care center, make sure you follow the appropriate steps to get your visit authorized.

Out-of-Area Care and Coverage

The Student Insurance Plan provides coverage for medically necessary and authorized care outside of the Bay Area, outside of California and outside of the United States. Various coverage and processes apply for each situation.

Insurance Waiver

Students who have access to an employer-sponsored insurance plan or an individual plan that meet all minimum benefit levels will be eligible to waive the Student Insurance Plan. Applications are accepted at the beginning of every quarter.
