With support from the Student Health Advisory Committee, SMHW has implemented a No-Show and Late Cancellation policy to improve access to mental health counseling for students. The intent of this policy is to prevent appointments from going unused due to students not showing up. This will help us keep provider time more open so that we may offer you appointments in as timely a manner as possible! If students promptly cancel appointments they cannot make, that appointment is available for another student.
- If you are unable to keep your appointment, please give us 24 hours notice to avoid a cancellation fee. If you do need to cancel, please do so as far in advance as possible.
- If you cancel within 24 hours of your appointment, a charge of $15.00 will be incurred.
- If you are going to be late for your appointment, please contact your clinician with an estimated arrival time to avoid a missed appointment fee.
- If you are late for your MH appointment, you can still be seen by the MH clinician. The MH clinician will see you for a partial/brief appointment for a wellness assessment.
- If you feel there are special circumstances related to your no-show visit, you may request a review of your no-show fees. To submit an appeal, respond to your notice via secure message at MyHealthRecord.ucsf.edu.
